Flint Youth Theatre presents Amber Waves
Written by James Still. Directed by Jeremy Winchester.
The Olsons' mid-Michigan farm has been in the family for generations, but as Deb and Scott approach adulthood they are left to wonder if the farm will survive these hard economic times. Their parents, Mike and Penny, struggle to balance their dwindling bank accounts while tending to their crops and cattle, their family and marriage. Despite their hardships, the Olsons find hope in their dreams and in one another. As families throughout Genesee County and Michigan struggle under stressful economic conditions, the Olsons' story could be our neighbor's story or our own.
Amber Waves provides insight into farm life while speaking to the universal message of hope amidst difficult circumstances. This website – amberwavesfyt.org – is intended as a resource for residents of Flint, Genesee County, and all of mid-Michigan to learn more about agriculture and the farms and families that provide our goods and commodities. It is also intended to give mid-Michigan farmers and agricultural organizations a voice to educate and inform the larger public. We hope you'll enjoy browsing this site, and will come back often, as we will be continuing to update the information here throughout the run of Amber Waves.
